How a trip to photograph author Alexander McCall-Smith in Edinburgh, morphed into my obsession to celebrate the talented authors of Canadian Literature.
Wow Mark - I've seen a few of these photographs and had no idea that you'd taken them. The Margaret Atwood is pretty iconic. They're all so wonderful. You are an amazing talent. xo
Thanks Kathy, the joy of spending 2-3 hours with each sitter was truly special. Margaret and her late husband were so kind and supportive, and we had the most fascinating conversations about “twitching” bird watching something they loved to do. Sadly Graeme has passed away, but Margaret continues to write and travel extensively.
Thanks Gabryel, I felt so fortunate to have a few intimate hours with each author. As I’ve got older I’ve really come to enjoy sharing the talents of other artists, who the world needs to be exposed more. Like you!
What an inspiring project! We need more like this, and in other sectors. As a plein air artist, I've often wondered what Canadian visual artists would choose for beauty. Thanks for illuminating our Canadian authors.
Thanks Karen, loved the stories and connections I made with these fellow artists. You could do a similar collection with you GB artists who are neighbours. Enjoy your summer. 🌊🌞😎

Thank you Edward, it was a joy meeting so many creative writers. Next time we get together I’d love to photograph you and Anne.
Wonderful photographs. What a rewarding assignment...
