Design seduces us. We don’t even have to know the merits of an object’s function. It pulls us in by its perfect proportions. I’m talking about the concept of the golden ratio, which dates back to 300BC and speaks of the “divine proportion,” a ratio between numbers equal to approximately 1.618 that creates a pleasing sense of balance.
